Overview

Do you have a keen eye for trends, excellent negotiation skills and a passion for driving sales? Jordan's Furniture is seeking a Sr. Merchandise Buyer to join their dynamic team to play a pivotal role in shaping our product offerings.  In this position you will manage merchandise assortment and new product introduction for multiple large product categories (upholstery, casegoods, etc). In addition, you will manages and coach junior buyers in product selection, negotiation, vendor relationships, and overall merchandising strategy execution. This position is a hybrid position located in East Taunton, MA with occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

What we trust you to do:

  • Makes buying decisions and has open to buy authority over a large selection of product categories
  • Determines stock pricing, FFO and markdown pricing
  • Oversees planning and execution of merchandise placement
  • Works with showroom design team to create vignettes and room scenes to optimize merchandise placement
  • Ensures the allocation / replenishment strategies and processes are in place in order to maximize sales, gross margin, and turnover
  • Manages vendor business portfolios, including negotiation and procedures
  • Accompanies VP of Merchandising on showroom visits, recommends vendors
  • Reviews success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory should be replenished
  • Researches new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions
  • Manages and coaches buyers by providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to the buying team, fostering their growth and expertise in product selection, negotiation, vendor relationships, and overall merchandising strategy execution. Offers ongoing feedback, training, and mentorship to enhance their skills and capabilities, ultimately driving individual and team performance excellence
  • Must travel to all store locations on an as needed basis
  • Must travel to the furniture markets, trade show events and factories approx. 5-8 times per year

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
  • 8+ years of related experience in the furniture and/or retail industry
  • Expert knowledge of assigned merchandise category
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all areas of the company
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
