Overview

The Merchandise Buyer II is responsible for managing the merchandise assortment and driving the successful introduction of new products across multiple medium-sized product categories, such as upholstery and casegoods. This role plays a key part in product strategy, vendor relations, and category performance. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of style, attention to detail, and a strategic mindset to align product selections with consumer trends and business objectives. This hybrid position is located in Taunton, MA.

Responsibilities

What we trust you to do:

  • Makes buying decision and has open to buy authority over a medium-size selection of product categories
  • Determines stock pricing, FFO and markdown pricing
  • Oversees planning and execution of merchandise placement
  •  Works with showroom design team to create vignettes and room scenes to optimize merchandise placement
  • Ensures the allocation / replenishment strategies and processes are in place in order to maximize sales, gross margin, and turnover
  • Manages vendor business portfolios, including negotiation and procedures
  • Accompanies VP of Merchandising on showroom visits, recommends vendors
  • Reviews success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory should be replenished
  • Researches new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions

 

Qualifications

Who you are: 

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
  • 5-8 years of related experience in the furniture industry
  • Expert knowledge of assigned merchandise category
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the company
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Must travel to all store locations on a frequent basis. Travel to the furniture markets 2-4 times a year.
