Overview

Join our growing ECommerce team as a Director of ECommerce Operations!  The Director of eCommerce Operations is a strategic and executional leader responsible for overseeing the end-to-end replatforming of the company’s ECommerce ecosystem. This role is critical in modernizing our digital infrastructure to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience. The Director will lead platform evaluation, migration planning, cross-functional coordination, and post-launch optimization—ensuring seamless continuity of business operations and exceptional customer experience throughout the transition.

 

This is a hybrid position located in Dedham, MA.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities we trust you to perform:

  • Lead the strategic vision and roadmap for eCommerce platform migration in alignment with business growth and digital goals.
  • Evaluate platform options (e.g., Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Optimizely) and recommend best-fit solutions based on functionality, scalability, and cost.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure executive alignment, risk mitigation, and prioritization of replatforming initiatives.
  • Direct a full-scale replatforming program from planning through execution, managing timelines, budget, scope, and quality.
  • Build and lead cross-functional teams spanning IT, Marketing, Product, UX, Customer Experience, and external vendors.
  • Develop detailed migration strategies (e.g., phased or big-bang), resource plans, and project KPIs.
  • Oversee architecture planning, technical requirements gathering, and integration with existing systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, payment gateways, shipping providers).
  • Ensure secure, accurate data migration—including customer, order, product, and content data—while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
  • Optimize new platform functionality with custom solutions, third-party apps, and robust testing protocols.
  • Ensure the new platform meets performance, UX, and mobile responsiveness benchmarks.
  • Lead SEO strategy before, during, and after migration to preserve rankings and traffic.
  • Drive optimization of site speed, checkout flow, conversion rate, and digital merchandising.
  • Establish monitoring and analytics frameworks to track site performance, stability, and user behavior post-launch.
  • Lead the transition to operational ownership, including training, documentation, support models, and iterative enhancements

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • 15+ Years total job experience
  • 7+ years of experience in eCommerce operations with a strong track record of leading platform migrations.
  • Expertise in modern eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento/Adobe, Optimizely).
  • Strong understanding of APIs, databases, system integrations, and digital infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of SEO best practices, site analytics (e.g., GA4), and eCommerce performance metrics.
  • Proven success in managing large-scale digital transformation projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional project and program management capabilities, with familiarity in agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and vendor management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to solving technical and operational challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Certifications in eCommerce platforms, PMP, or Agile methodologies are a plus
