Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor to oversee day-to-day payroll operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll and HCM-related processes. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role supervises payroll staff and supports functions across Payroll, Time and Attendance, and Leave of Absence administration. The Payroll Supervisor will play a critical role in maintaining internal controls, auditing data integrity, resolving system issues, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company pay policies. This role also supports cross-functional collaboration with departments such as HR, Finance, and Compliance to streamline workflows and support the entire employee lifecycle.
This is a hybrid role out of East Taunton, MA.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Interviews, hires, supervises, coaches, trains, evaluates, motivates employees.
  • Supervises, reconciles and audits all data entered into the HCM system including company sales compensation software.
  • Indirectly oversees processes of employees who compile and review data from HCM system to ensure data entered complies with company pay policy.
  • Partner with users on the application of leave laws within the HCM system to ensure accurate leave tracking. Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA and state specific family and medical leave laws.
  • Monitor workflow processes between payroll and other departments to ensure validation of employee life cycle data (employee on boarding, verification of voluntary and involuntary deductions, garnishments, Salary Continuance (STD) payments, direct deposit, garnishments and business correspondence.
  • Audit, research, and resolve HCM issues in accordance with company policy and state and federal wage laws.  Analyzes and makes recommendations for enhancements of procedures and processes.
  • Responsible for updating and testing the Payroll Disaster Recovery plan.
  • Performs weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year end audits.
  • Assists Payroll Manager with special projects in all HCM areas as needed.
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Any other function or responsibility as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 5 years of automated, multi-state payroll experience; previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Deep understanding of electronic Time and Attendance systems and outsourced payroll platforms.

  • Proven experience with commission and incentive-based compensation in a retail environment.

  • Hands-on knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce is required.

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities with a track record of motivating and developing team members.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills for audit, compliance, and issue resolution.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (C.P.P.) certification is required.
